| Euroscreen CCR5 Agonist program available for out-licensing |
|
A CCR5 Agonist program has been pursued at Euroscreen for 2 years, resulting in the development of a patented lead series positioned for final chemistry improvements before the declaration of a development candidate and the completion of pre-IND studies. Euroscreen's re-prioritization of programs and ressources caused the shelving of this program in October, 2008.
Our lead candidates are equivalent to maraviroc in their in vitro HIV activity and would require final improvements to optimize their characteristics. Separate members of the lead series already meet the requirements for a development candidate, and now need to be combined into one final new chemical entity (NCE). The lead series is the subject of several patents filed in 2007, and optimized during the priority year for transformation and filing of the corresponding PCT applications in July 2008. --Euroscreen is now looking for a partner to go further in more advanced development steps with this program-- Euroscreen also owns or controls all the CCR5 target patent rights required for the drug development and is able to make such license rights available as part of the out-licensing package. Other companies who have also announced their licensing of these patent rights from Euroscreen for the pursuit of their own programs include AstraZeneca, Boehringer-Ingelheim, Monogram Biosciences and Pfizer. -ends- For further licensing Information, please contact:

Al Gray, Ph.D. About Euroscreen S.A. EUROSCREEN is a privately held preclinical-stage biopharmaceutical company based in Brussels Belgium, focused on the discovery and development of small molecule drugs for unmet medical needs. Founded in 1994, as a spin-off of the "Université Libre de Bruxelles", initially developing and commercializing G Protein-Coupled Receptors (GPCR) reagents, EUROSCREEN is now developing a pipeline of preclinical candidates targeting proprietary GPCR, such as CCR5, as well as several preclinical-stage collaborations with partners, using its worldwide recognized expertise on this critical class of drug targets.
EUROSCREEN pursues a dual business model strategy of combining its internal programs on high value targets (EUROSCREEN DRUG DISCOVERY) with its fully dedicated Business Unit (EUROSCREEN FAST) providing GPCR customized screening and other services for biotech and pharmaceutical companies around the world. |
